Unsurprisingly, people are scared of going out in nighttime since thier vision isn't as clear as when they are travelling in daytime and that certainly makes the individuals feel like crimes and criminals might come more frequently.
Notwithstanding, what I have experienced since I came to study in The UK, Cardiff and Bournemouth, are completely different from those which others warned me to be aware of. I am, to be honest, fond of lingering around when sunlight fades out and twingle lights shine from every direction. If not neccesary. I don't like to take a bus or a taxi, anyway.
Why I do love to do that is very simple. firstly, nighttime is never rush. It makes me feel chilled out(not talking about freezing weather,tho). Also, it gives some pretty weird experiences which make me smile unconciously everytime I think of them. In general, this kind of experience never happens when the sun is shining above your head, of course.
Well, let's start from here....On Christmas day in Cardiff, I was regularly walking back home after a backbreaking work as a general waiter at Thai House Restaurant, I bumped up with a drunk guy on the road. He smiled at me and asked me to give him FIVE!! and then he started to lecture me briefly about how the study life meant to be before we separated. Also, many strangers walking around there yelled "Merry (fucking) X'mas" at me. They're all smiling happily, meanwhile someone pointed at his girlfriend and told me "You know, man? she loves me" :D... And at dawn on the another day, some people said "Good Morning, man" to me. Thanks god, had I taken a taxi or a bus home, I whouldn't have got such those decent experiences (Even I don't believe in the existence of a god).
Yesterday in Bournemouth,also, I was walking back home again from my friend's rental house, I met an another drunken guy. He stopped me and asked me where I'm from...."Thailand" I responded in transfixion. Is was surprising that he spoke to me in Thai and we had a good conversation since then. He told me how much he's tired of bloody cold England but he really loves Thailand.... "not less than 5 times he has been to Thailand" I cannot accurately remember. And more surprised that he could make a sentence in Thai not just a phrase or a word..."ผมชอบเมืองไทย ผมอยากเป็นเพื่อนกับคุณ"... that's awesome^^ So, under shivering -8 degree celcius weather, my heart was warmed by the lovely conversation instead. Having arrived in my room, I thought "I was really lucky that I didn't stay at my friend's house" this experience is much better than just lying on a warm bed and do nothing^^
Actually, there're many good things I've met in the UK but I cannot remember at the moment. So, in the end of the day, I just wanna tell you guys that sometimes, we'll be able to encounter a coincidence everytime. Although many people face bad time at night but there're still some decent people ubiquitously. Just don't let your fear of darkness omit you from good things at night, tho.
